listening — Joella Bitter

I am currently working on two sound installations. The first is a 5.1 surround sound mix of Gulu SoundTracks which explores what is enabled by an immersive ethnographic sound experience. The second, Nocturnal, is a three-part multichannel invitation to listen to Gulu’s active night worlds.

I am also a founding member of The OS Collective, an experiment in collaborative sound matters and methods. We recently screened a new sound production, “Fragile Frontiers: A Speculative Sound Map,” created in dialogue with the work of artist and composer Annea Lockwood for the UAL CRiSAP “Wild Energies: Live Materials” event (2022).
